On Friday, Nov.9th, we finally heard the good news---we won!!!
It was a hard-fought contest, with the final results delayed for three days while the city hand-counted 5,500 ballots that couldn't be scanned on election night because of a printing error. In the end, we won by 729 votes, a three percent margin out of the 23,973 votes cast.
We always said this would be a tight race and we'd win it through word of mouth. Thank you so much for reaching out to friends, neighbors and strangers on my behalf. Every donation, phone-call, email, conversation, lawn sign, door knocked, Tweet and Facebook post really mattered.
It was a tremendous team effort and we couldn't have won without the generous support and thousands of volunteer hours from so many people. You've made it possible for me to take on the work and responsibility of Minneapolis School Board Director and I'm honored, humbled, and excited to do so! THANK YOU!!!!
We're having a party/open-house on Monday, November 19th from 5:30--7:30 p.m. at the home of Courtney Cushing Kiernat, at 2512 Upton Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55404. Please stop in if you can. I'd love to thank you personally. (RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, but if you forget, no worries, just come.)
While the solutions to our challenges in our schools will not be easy, I'm energized by the chance to work on them. I'll continue reaching out to our entire district. Working together, we can make sure this is a community where ALL families have the option to send their children to great public schools!
Thank you for supporting and believing in me! I am deeply grateful and look forward to the hard work ahead.-Josh Reimnitz
